What a mess!
It seems Police Chief Jim Scharf shirked his responsibility and he passed the buck to the next chief.
What right has he to change the rules? It’s only common sense to know Troy Meade was angry and lost his temper. A policeman deals with drunks all the time. If he was so “scared” for his life, why didn’t he jump aside? He had the time to pump seven bullets into Mr. Meservey’s back! If Troy Meade gets back on the force, God help anybody who drinks!
When so many budget cuts are hurting people, it’s stupid for the city to shell out $400,000 for attorneys for the Meade case, and $241,000 for Meade’s legal fees and $116,000 to Meade for sitting on his rump. The case should have ended a long time ago!
Steve Klocker was given a raw deal by Scharf — he stood by Meade instead of Klocker and never backed him up. And Meservey’s family should have got more money. There is no reason for him to have lost his life.
