I feel for Sid Schwab. I really do. Here’s a guy who announced his retirement quite a few months ago, yet still has an urgent need to cry out and be heard through “guest columnist” submissions to The Herald. During a time of life when peace and tranquility should wrap him like a warm flannel shirt, he seems to live in a perpetual state of dangerous mental fulmination. In the spirit of kindness toward my fellow man, I present the following ideas that may serve to soothe his worried mind:
1. If Fox News bothers him so much, he should stop watching it!! And stop talking to people who do.
2. When dealing with the hyperbole of others, do not resort to even more strident hyperbole of your own. It makes one look foolish.
3. Facts are like statistics: you can make them do or say anything you want. Indeed, a fact is only a fact when somebody accepts it as such.
There, now he can walk off into the retirement he so desperately needs. You’re welcome. Good luck.
