Kal Leichtman’s recent response to Shabbir Bala’s Nov. 7 guest commentary, “Pro-Israel lobby’s influence on U.S. policy goes too far” was a prejudiced personal attack (Leichtman wrote the Nov. 14 guest commentary, “Criticism of Israel lobby group was off the mark”). Even more shocking than the discriminative disposition of the response is that The Herald published it. If anything, the response does a disservice to the United States and the military divisions Mr. Leichtman is so proud to represent as it compromises the multicultural values of the country. It lacks the content of a sophisticated argument and instead contains hateful comments that are both unrelated to the original article and unsupported by the response.
