I wholly agree with the March 25 letter, “Time has come to offer child-free sections.” We do not smoke but purposely used to sit in the smoking section of a restaurant to get away from the children.
Our kids are raised and gone, grandkids are great but they can go home when they are sick, or misbehaving. Mom and dad can deal with all the downsides of small children, dealing with schools, doctors, etc. Once is enough.
This state is one of the worst I have ever seen for not having places where adults can get away from children. The bars have to serve food here so guess what, you even have to put up with children while trying to have an adult beverage and adult conversation.
Some of the lodges used to be a sanctuary from kids but not any more. I believe this is the No. 1 reason for their drop in membership over the years. Mom and dad, you had the fun of making the child, please enjoy raising them … away from adults who have been there and done that and now seek some relief.
