Becoming a proud Navy wife has opened my eyes to one of the most crucial dangers of our time. While my sailor was at sea, sleepless nights shone a light on a terrifying, hushed truth. The threat of nuclear war quietly looms over us while members of Congress repeatedly reject diplomacy with Iran. No one will ever be safe in a world with nuclear weapons. Our elected officials undermine current negotiations to protect their own interests, keeping us in the dark and from moving forward.
Recently, Sen. Cotton, along with 46 other members of Congress sent a letter to Iranian leaders stating that any nuclear agreements would end with Obama’s presidential term. Obeying international law and keeping nuclear weapons out of the hands of our enemies does not seem to concern Cotton and Co. They endanger us all by suggesting sanctions that have failed repeatedly in the past and playing political games for selfish gains.
A future without the very real threat of nuclear weapons is within our reach. At this critical time in history, our lives are being gambled for short-sighted politicking. While Sen. Cotton chooses to disregard the value of human life, I am committed to protecting the future of my family, our nation, and the generations to come. I will fight for a world without weapons of mass destruction, without fear. Will Sen. Cotton?
