I am the manager of Silver Shores, a 55-plus Mobile Home Community. Rarely have I had the opportunity to praise the actions of any workforce offering help to our disabled seniors. Rarely have I seen the outpouring of care and self-sacrifice that I had the privilege of witnessing Aug. 2. Close to 50 members of the Afloat Training Group for the Pacific Northwest, men and women based here in Everett, under the direction of Commander Jonathan Christian, constructed access ramps for two of our tenants so that they might more easily enter and exit their homes. These people worked all day, and had fun doing it!
It is not often that the civilian population gets to see the compassionate side of our Armed Forces. This training group has made a practice annually to assist with needed projects in our communities, from Lake Stevens to Seattle. I feel strongly that this unit should be awarded the “E” for public service to the residents of Silver Shores. Thank you, Afloat Training Group, for a job well done!
