On Sept. 4, The Herald printed an article about the Catholic/Protestant conflict in Ireland. Next to it was a picture of some schoolgirls being escorted through angry Protestant lines. The terrified faces of the schoolgirls should be enough to make any sensible individual want to end this strife. How many centuries has it been since the Orange and Green fought? Does anyone know what the battle was about or who won? Does it really matter? Isn’t it about time for someone to say, “Get over it, people”?
As a member of the Protestant faith I find this action revolting. A recent president of the United States hosted one of the leaders of this senseless terrorism in the White House. Could this stupid act be contributing to continuing the ‘fight’?
