Presidential candidate John Kerry, at a recent gathering of African-American journalists, stated that if he were in charge, he would fight a “sensitive war on terror.”
The phrase in an oxymoron, a figure of speech combining incongruous terms surely comforting to terrorists. Terrorism and war is definitely inconsistent with sensitivity.
Being sensitive to the cruel perpetrators and their many acts of violence is laughable. Consider a few of their acts over the years, with more being planned: the Bali bombing, Kobart towers, USS Cole, two African embassies, 1993 World Trade Center and the 9-11 disaster.
Fanatic militant Islamic groups, such as al-Qaida, could care less about love and togetherness. Rather, they envision a worldwide domination enabling them to enforce their radical beliefs on all of us. A better choice of words by Kerry would have been a “relentless war on terrorism.”
