Thank you, to The Herald Editorial Board for a clear and unbiased explanation of church-state separation (“Court majority weakens church, state separation,” The Herald, June 30). You also illustrate the dangerous ignorance of people like Rep. Boebert.
Having grown up as a member of a minority religion, I am acutely aware of what happens when Christians, as the majority in this country, have free reign. In most cases, their intent is not to offend or oppress others; it is simply due to their inability to understand that this is not and never was a Christian country and that all religions are equal. They do not understand why a short, simple group prayer that mentions Jesus is deeply alienating and offensive to non-Christians, especially among young people for whom social acceptance is a necessity.
Because of these attitudes, it is essential that no law, action, or tradition elevates one religion above any other in this country.
