We are 60-year residents of Snohomish County and have owned and operated businesses in this community for more than 40 years. We believe we have a first-rate prosecutor in Jim Krider. The Herald wisely endorsed Mr. Krider in 1998.
Jim Krider has worked to create an office with high professional standards. He seems to be coming under attack for placing performance ratings before seniority in determining deputy prosecutors’ promotions and salary increases. In our businesses we tried to reward our employees for their performance. We think this should be the standard in the public sector.
An example of where the high standards are being realized is the juvenile crime rate. Juvenile crime has been reduced by 25 percent during Jim Krider’s tenure as prosecuting attorney. A major reason for this reduction is the Courtrooms to Classrooms program he established, where deputy prosecutors volunteer time to provide information concerning the criminal justice system in various Snohomish County classrooms.
Snohomish County needs an experienced prosecutor like Jim Krider whose first priority is safety for citizens and justice for victims of crime in Snohomish County.
