She genuinely cares about our community

Susanne Olson is a genuine individual who cares deeply about the people in her community. For over 30 years she has provided leadership, integrity, boundless energy and commitment to all of those around her.

On a Sunday morning about nine years ago, my family found itself at the front door of Monroe’s Tualco Grange. At first glance we were tempted to turn and run, as this worship center was not like any Lutheran church we were accustomed to! This well-worn abode, with the lingering aroma of cattle, would cause any recent immigrant from Bellevue pause. But, for some reason we walked in the door and were greeted by Susanne Olson for the first time.

Susanne was one of a few people who started our church in Monroe nine years ago. In large part because of the caring, genuine nature we saw in Susanne, my family fell in love with this church on our first visit. The innovative leadership she has displayed there since has contributed significantly to its becoming the thriving community of faith it is today, despite many obstacles along the way.

She always gives 150 percent, whether lobbying for agriculture as 1967 Dairy Princess, teaching contemporary world issues at Sultan High, or helping to develop an ELCA Lutheran ministry presence in Monroe. She has always been there for her community and family, regardless of political persuasion, and that’s why I believe Susanne Olson will carry the voice of everyone in our community to Olympia should she be elected Washington state senator for the 39th District.
