In the next few weeks, voters in the “new” 39th district will have an opportunity to fill an open seat for state representtive. I encourage you to support Carolyn Eslick as she seeks this seat.
I have known Carolyn since arriving in the Sky Valley two years ago, and have worked with her on a number of projects in our communities, including the Sultan Food Bank and Safe Stop. I also had the privilege to work with Carolyn on cooperative committees when she served as city council member for Sultan.
I have found Carolyn to have a passion for young people, a mission for service to our senior citizens, and a commitment to her community, county, and now, the 39th district.
Having worked in education for 22 years, I have had many opportunities to work with legislators from every possible ideological and philosophical background. I have become very frustrated with the game playing and vote-buying that happens in Olympia, and I’m looking for representation for our district and our constituents.
I believe Carolyn Eslick will be a voice for us in Olympia, and will not succumb to the gridlock of partisan politics. As an educator, I’m very concerned about the economy and the upcoming legislative session. People may not realize it, but the Legislature made substantial cuts in education funding last year, and there’s the very real possibility that I-728, passed with a 70 (plus) percent vote, could be reversed in the upcoming session.
It is time for representatives in Olympia to listen to what their constituents are asking for, rather than special interest groups. My experience in working with Carolyn tells me she would work for her constituents, and not vote simply on “the party line.”
The next few years will take some real courage and commitment from our representatives. Join me in voting for Carolyn Eslick, 39th District, Position 1, on Sept. 17.
