Shoplifting isn’t a political issue

I read the letter to the editor in Monday’s Herald regarding the boy stealing grapes from Costco. (“Grocery grazing is, in fact, stealing”). I have seen this practice occur many times while shopping. I agreed with everything in the letter until the last paragraph.

What in the heck does a the act of a young boy stealing grapes, and his lame parents letting him get away with it, have to do with Democrats? I couldn’t believe her comment that as a Democrat I make it easier for thieves to steal and get away with it. I’m sure plenty of children whose parents are Republicans have stolen a grape or two and gotten away with it! Her point was well made until she threw politics into the mix.
