Thanks to Kaitlin Manry for reporting information on Arlington’s plans to improve its part of the Centennial Trail north of 204th Street NE into downtown. (Jan. 25 article, “Arlington plans street fix.”)
While that will be appreciated by dedicated Arlington cyclists and pedestrians, those improvements are far less critical to downtown access by cyclists living further south than is the gap that exists on county turf between the Edgecomb trailhead and 172nd Street a mile to its north, currently accessible only via 67th Avenue NE, which is shoulderless and has lots of high-speed traffic. That’s the real obstacle that keeps cyclists from riding into Arlington, and we’d now like to read some reporting on what’s going on with that!
