I guess I had hoped in vain that President Trump’s defeat would render Sid Schwab’s weekly screed obsolete. After all, for the last four years excoriating Trump constituted the sole purpose of his column. What has been so remarkable is not the political difference between them, it is how alike these two individuals are: bombastic, prone to hyperbole and utterly disdainful of those who disagree with them.
Sadly, the two of them are excellent examples of the extremist mentality which seems to be gaining such popularity in our country. They remind me of two reckless drivers who encounter each other on the road, each one breathlessly denouncing the dangerous maneuvers of the other while ignoring their own actions. Now that one of them is less in the news it only seems fitting to retire the other. Given how little content The Herald now offers its readers, surely it can make better use of its very limited editorial space.
