I avoided political canvassers, until, one day, I tried being one.
I learned a lesson that will stay with me all the rest my life. Like many things, you don’t really feel appreciation for something until you try it. As the midterms approach, we will be inundated with robo-calls and robo-mailings and folks in front of stores asking us to register to vote and folks ringing our doorbells, etc.
My advice is this. Especially to the folks who give up their free time and endure the weather conditions to serve our democracy: Even if you don’t agree with their politics or have already registered to vote, please look them in the eye and say thank you for caring enough about this country to give of yourself.
