While the Wuhan coronavirus kills a lot of people (about 100,000 people in the U.S.), the earlier refusal to lift the blanket shutdown by mostly Democrat governors still has the potential to kill a lot more.
It has been estimated that for every 1 percent increase in unemployment approximately 10,000 additional deaths will occur, deaths caused by suicide, postponement of “non-essential” procedures, inability to get dental care and many other stress related reasons. With over 13 percent unemployment nationwide that means we can rack up about 200,000 shutdown related deaths, or about twice the number caused by the virus to date.
With our Gov. Inslee slow to bring the lockdown to an end, and even extending it in some areas, you have to question his reasoning. Is it simply stupidity, is he evil, does he have a political agenda or is it all three? I vote for all three, given his history.
