Oh, for Pete’s sake! Sid Schwab utterly consumed with hatred toward Trump and his supporters? (“Sid Schwab unable to be civil, even-handed,” Herald letters to the editor, Dec. 17) Unable to be civil or even-handed? Baloney!
I believe I share a great deal of Sid’s frustration and despair and for the same reasons. I don’t come from a place of hatred so much as alarmed dismay and visceral disgust at how this appalling administration operates. I haven’t an ounce of pride for any of it (and I include most of Congress in this profound disappointment). Does the writer happen to read The Herald’s online comments? Let me just say, speaking of civility and even-handedness, you will find little of either from those contributors (most of whom love Trump and definitely do not love Schwab, Tom Burke, and others).
Has the writer also failed to notice that many other regular conservative columnists cannot abide this administration and share their worries about all that’s happening? I wouldn’t blame Sid for throwing in the towel one day, but hope he doesn’t. These are not good times and the press needs to bear witness. Sid’s columns and those by others fighting this fight are important and a major reason many of us remain subscribers.
