While I appreciate the Herald editorial on dissent of July 4, “USA: Debate in our DNA,” we should all be disturbed by the Republican-led states to suppress the vote and disenfranchise voters. The right to vote is our primary voice of dissent and should never be silenced for political expediency. On this day, while we promote these rights throughout the world, that we have a political party here at home that is intent on taking away these rights is absolutely shameful and detrimental to our country.
