Sincere gratitude from family of Lee Tatum

My heart filled with emotion as I walked around the Silvana Fair this year feeling the emptiness so many others felt with the loss of one of their own – Lee Tatum, my mom. I remember conversations over the years of her telling me all the things she had to do in preparation for the fair and I would ask why she felt she needed to take on so much. But, as she explained, it wasn’t that she had to, rather she wanted to. Her willingness to give was commendable and her energy was astounding.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jim Dignam and all of the board members of the Silvana Community Association for nominating and dedicating this year’s fair to my mom. The memorabilia, bench with plaque and beautiful tree will always be a reminder of how much she was loved and respected in her community. A special thanks to Betty Sehlke for assisting in the coverage in the local newspapers and for standing behind me to hold me up when my knees got weak.

To those of you who have been fortunate enough to know my mom, I know you would say that losing her has been a loss to the community as well as a loss of a good friend. The time mom had spent in the Silvana area had been the best years she could have ever hoped for. The love and support you all gave her kept her in high spirits and gave her the strength to go on. She loved you all dearly and I want to thank you for allowing her to be a special part of this wonderful community and for being such a huge part of her life. For this I will always be grateful.
