A recent letter complained about discrimination against single-driver cars – yet most freeways have at least three lanes for single-drivers and only one HOV lane. I once drove from Renton to Bothell at 60 mph in the HOV lane while the three lanes of single drivers were going at 10-20 mph.
The simplest, surest, least costly way to reduce gas usage and road congestion would be for each single driver to add one or two passengers where practical.
