As I read the Saturday article written by Jackson Holtz concerning the Rev. Paul Stoot Jr.’s recent arrest, I was dismayed. The law apparently applies to everyone but Rev. Paul Stoot Jr.
Anyone who drives into an emergency situation and places his car in front of an emergency vehicle/barricade is in the wrong. To call foul when he is in the wrong discredits him and his position as a pastor. Mr. Alton McDonald’s claim that the sergeant was acting in retaliation over a lawsuit with another agency is far-fetched. I seriously doubt he is seeking true justice; it seems there is an agenda here, which involves seeking publicity (as evidenced by urging bystanders to photograph the situation instead of attempting to resolve it).
It can only have been made more difficult for the sergeant involved, to continue to do what was appropriate while there was an escalated atmosphere of political posturing. I cannot imagine being in an emergency situation and not immediately doing anything a law enforcement officer or firefighter commanded me to do. In reading this article, it does not seem that Rev. Stoot truly desires fairness or justice.
