In response to the Tuesday letter implying that legalizing marijuana will lead to all sorts of evil things, the writer assumes the choice is between pot and abstinence.
Apparently he is not aware of the huge amount of alcohol we Americans consume, not to mention the overprescribing and endless marketing of all variety of prescription drugs: opiates, anti-depressants, sedatives, etc. Newsflash, we’re already down the “slippery slope,” our children already have poor adult role models, and, yes, apparently we Americans can’t make it through the day without being anesthetized.
Perhaps an herbal alternative would actually be healthier, leave us more productive, as well as being less costly, and less addictive/habituating than our current choices.
