The Edmonds Fire Department responded to residential fires on Oct. 26, 29 and 31. Each fire occurred in the early-morning hours. One house was vacant and, fortunately, families in the other two homes were alerted by smoke detectors and safely escaped before the fire department arrived. Regrettably, family pets perished.
We recently turned back our clocks – the traditional time to test smoke detectors and change batteries. If you have not done so, check your smoke detectors today to make sure they work. Install fresh batteries if you have any doubts. Smoke detectors are an effective and inexpensive form of insurance for you and your family.
Thanks to citizen donations to the Edmonds Fire Safety Foundation and the generosity of Allstate Insurance, smoke detectors are available to low-income seniors and others who may need assistance. If you need help with smoke detectors, call the Edmonds Fire Department at 425-771-0215.
It is a fact: Smoke detectors save lives. Check yours today.
