I almost lost my breakfast as I read of Snohomiosh PUD’s rate increase, the first one in five years they say (“Snohomish County power rates to rise 2.1%,” The Herald, Dec. 21).
Is that why my monthly rate went from $85 to $130 in the past year or so? Oh yeah, they said I used more electricity. Really? Forty-five dollars a month more? Who do I look like, Clark Griswold?
I must have cranked everything up to the limit just to see the needle spin around. Yes, I have known for years that PUD uses its own math, one that always benefits it, and not us “garden variety” types. Translation: little guy. Tell me then, if as they say, most all of us will not notice any increase, how will that add up to $11 million for the PUD? I don’t get it, no noticeable increase for most customers, generating $11 million for the utility?
C’mon. I mean, I attended Everett schools so I’m not dumb, or maybe the PUD figures all of us are. Or so it seems to me.
