Where is the task force?
On June 1 Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon, Mayor Dennis Kendall of Marysville, and Executive Director Paul A. Roberts said that a task force would be formed to look at all aspects of the proposed NASCAR track in Snohomish County. They even went as far as to appoint John Garner as the go-to man of the task force. When Mr. Garner was asked at the meeting why the task force hasn’t been formed yet, he said the task force would be formed within a few weeks.
Well it has been more than seven weeks since that meeting. What is the hold up? Or has the Mayor Kendall, County Executive Reardon and County Director Roberts squashed the idea of a task force, much like they have on the idea of listening to the community? This has become apparent by them not coming to the public forum that was held by SCAR (Snohomish County Citizens Against a Racetrack) on June 24 and stating that they would not attend meetings prepared by “special interest” groups on either side of the issue. Would this task force that they (our leaders) first agreed to form now be looked at as a “special interest” group? The citizens they represent are looking for answers. They should listen to the call and do their civic duty by listening to the people.
