After living in Alderwood for 25 years, it never ceases to amaze me seeing the hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars spent on freeway improvements, overpasses, underpasses, tunnels, etc. But southbound I-5 traffic still has to go through seven ill-timed lights to get to the mall, even though the mall parking lot and I-5 are less than 200 yards apart.
Some traffic tries to go to the mall via Ash Way and Maple Road. The light off Maple Road is so badly timed that during the holidays to take four to five cycles of the light to get through.
And now they are building a new Costco at that very intersection.
Now the new quarter-mile of guard rail on Maple sure looks pretty, but it’s too bad they didn’t put any where all the cars go into the swamp, at least two per year.
I think before these highway engineers spend millions more, they should consult the Boy Scouts for some common sense.
