Regarding the Dec. 3 article, “Mukilteo firm wants to power the switch to renewable energy”: From what we have learned in our science this year — that it is a good idea to use batteries to help store the renewable energy — we think wind turbines are not the source to use. The problem with wind turbines is you need wind, which is sporadic, as well as space. It can also be very expensive. This is not the way to go if you need renewable energy. Other, better options may be hydropower or solar energy; the latter being of better potential use. We think solar would be a more reliable source because it is cheaper and does not take much room.
