Jeff Buckley’s May 21 letter “U.S. misdeeds are always highlighted” downplays the torture of prisoners in Baghdad’s Abu Ghraib prison. Twice, he likens it to a typical “frat party.” Maybe Mr. Buckley considers it a fun “frat party” to attack men with dogs, lead them around with a leash around their neck, have them strip and form human pyramids, force them to masturbate, and sodomize them with chemical light sticks. Most civilized people in this world, however, consider that to be torture and beneath contempt. And any soldiers who commit such acts, even against our “enemy,” should be held accountable for their actions.
