There’s a common thread that ties together many of the domestic issues of the day. It is: What do you do about the children? You may want to deport a longtime illegal immigrant, fine. You may want to remove an unwilling worker from welfare, fine. You may want to take your chances without medical insurance, fine.
But the children. Of the illegals’ kids, many aren’t Mexican nationals and may not speak Spanish. They may have been born here which makes them citizens even if their parents aren’t. Of the welfare-cheaters’ kids, are we ready to see them go hungry in the street to see their parents given their due? Do we take them away? The point is there is no way to separate kids from their folks, and this is and will always be a core problem of social engineering and welfare.
