In response to the Tuesday letter, “Where, oh, where are all the voters?”
Some of us voters wait to send them in and with good reason.
Here are a couple for you:
Some of us are not happy with the all mail-in voting procedure here in Snohomish County. We feel it leaves too many opportunities for fraud and that the earlier you send in your ballot, the greater that possibility.
Another reason I wait to fill mine out and postmark it as close to election day as possible is that sometimes information on a candidate or issue comes to light in the last week and it is a real inconvenience to recall your ballot and revote if you want to change your mind.
So don’t count your voters before election day, it really isn’t what defines patriotism. Yes, I agree it is our duty and an honor to vote, but I would rather that the uninformed not vote at all, as opposed to just filling out the card because they like the name, gender, party, color of hair or the picture in the pamphlet — if they bothered to retain it and their ballot long enough to actually use them.
I encourage all to get informed and vote! We can make a difference, but don’t vote just to say you voted.
