I voted for Dave Somers for Snohomish County Council four years ago, and will definitely vote for him again this year. He has proven to me that he cares about Snohomish County and my community. It’s not easy being a leader when there are lots of problems to solve. Listening, understanding and making hard decisions are qualities that Dave has displayed and I think are important as my representative.
I am particularly concerned about preserving our quality of life in Snohomish County. Next year the county council will be adopting a revised critical area ordinance. This ordinance along with many others affecting our wetlands, steep slopes, streams, creeks and wildlife habitat, will be revised or re-evaluated in 2002. Dave’s technical background and experience as a biologist provides the expertise required to understand these important laws. During Dave’s term as councilman he has demonstrated he represents all his constituents with fairness and honesty. Revising the leadership now will be a mistake.
Our county is in trouble. While the state government tells each county how many people they must take in, there is little money given to pay for everything that is needed. Our traffic is a mess and probably will only get worse. Although my taxes are high, I will pay more, but only if I feel new developments that are allowed to be built share more of the burden of paying for new roads. I want our county to continue to be a beautiful place to live and to raise children. And I know, by re-electing Dave Somers, we will have the best hope of achieving that goal. Let’s re-elect Dave Somers because he has made positive changes for our county and will continue to do so.
