Wednesday was a good day for Snohomish County: Sound Transit delivered on its promise to provide commuter rail service from Everett to Seattle. This is a big step forward for improvements in transportation necessary to keep Boeing jobs in Snohomish County.
There are many items on Boeing’s wish list to build the 7E7 locally and transportation is one of the biggest. Transportation improvements are good for all business (and commuters) and are essential for the growth of quality jobs in our community. When voters approved Sound Transit it was with the promise of new bus service and commuter rail for the citizens of Snohomish County. As a former member of the agency’s citizen oversight panel, I have a deep appreciation for how difficult this was to put together. I congratulate the agency and leaders, like Edmonds City Councilman Dave Earling, for working hard on Sound Transit’s board to make sure we got our money’s worth.
