My family attended an event on Sept. 14 that deserves a very special note of appreciation.
We were guests at the Twilight Garden Party, put on by Everett Parks and Recreation. This was held to recognize volunteers who have donated time and effort in various volunteer projects throughout the year.
I thank whoever made the decision to not cancel this event, in light of our current world crisis. The ambience was absolutely perfect – such a marvelously beautiful garden, set with twinkling lights and classical music. We are so impressed with the people who hosted this. It was done professionally, and at the same time had a very personal touch. There is a pretty fantastic group of employees at Everett Parks and Recreation!
At 7 p.m., we joined the nation in a moment of silence and prayer. Each person held a lit candle. What might seem like a small thing was a very powerful moment for my family. We needed to be able to take a deep breath and feel the strength, beauty and reassurance of unity in our community.
Thank you again to Everett Parks and Recreation, particularly the horticulture crew and the master gardeners for a much needed, very nice evening. You can count on seeing our faces at as many volunteer opportunities as we can manage in coming years.
