I live on a street in the Pinehurst Neighborhood that is bursting with activity. It’s part of the Interurban trail. Families ride their bikes, walk their dogs, and exercise by walking or running along it. This street is Commercial Avenue.
Unfortunately, it has become the Talladega Superspeedway. At various points of the day, and especially in the evening, you can witness people going much faster than the posted 25 mph. Because it is long and flat people mistake it for a drag strip.
I would like to invite the Everett Police Department to come to my house and set up shop. I’m sure in one day they could cover the Everett city budget shortfall with all the tickets they could write. It’s only a matter of time before tragedy happens along this strip of road. Let’s be proactive and not reactive.
