Once again the fatal crash involving three teens who were driving on 108th Street back in 2011 is in the news. (Tuesday, “Lawsuit filed against county over fatal 2011 crash in Marysville.”) Claims and lawsuits are still in the works by the families involved. I am aware of the road involved, having driven down 108th on numerous occasions. Before the county revamped the road, there was a steep little hill going up, right at the crest of the main hill that goes down to the valley. My question is, if the road is so completely unsafe, how did I survive those many trips down that dangerous road? How have the thousands of other drivers who traversed that road survived? We all should have been killed many times over. Why weren’t we all killed? I think I know why. We crested that hill at or below the legal limit of 35. Maybe speed limits are there for a reason after all?
