Speedy response impressed neighbors

Just before Memorial Day our neighbor, Mac, was working on his dream house with three other construction men. My husband had just come back from the site after talking with Mac and as we were eating lunch, we noticed one of the construction fellows walking down the road and waving his arms. Immediately a District 4 EMS and fire truck ,along with District 3 paramedics, were arriving.

By the time my husband was able to run down to the house site, the EMS team and the paramedics were taking over for the construction worker who was giving Mac CPR. The construction worker, who is also a volunteer firefighter, expressed his amazement at how fast all the aid vehicles had arrived. From the time 911 had been called, the other worker only had time to walk down the drive before aid cars were entering the roadway. It took only about 3 to 5 minutes for all the aid units to arrive. No one could have asked for or expected better service from our fire district.

Sadly, Mac had suffered a massive blood clot and did not survive. Mac had been our neighbor for more than 20 years and was one of the nicest people you ever wanted to meet. He had a ready smile, a hearty laugh and a helping hand for everyone. He will be sorely missed.
