Rick Hannold’s campaign lies make him unworthy of reelection for Island County commissioner. Rather than run on his merits, which he lacks, he chooses to attack Janet St. Clair for moving to Camano Island.
Many of us in Island County came from Seattle. We didn’t make the move to transform island paradise into urban bustle, neither did St. Clair. Janet St. Clair, as executive director of Sound Water Stewards, seeks to help citizens be responsible islanders. She helps us understand how island living is different than city living and requires a respect for the land and water.
Hannold also falsely praises himself. He did not save Barnum Point. Camano citizens working with Whidbey Camano Land Trust did. Hannold thought Camano had too many parks. Camano citizens had to persuade him to support the acquisition.
Hannold’s mission for Island Transit was to get fares. He cared more about collecting fares than maintaining ridership. Fare collection had already been proven as more costly than fare-free rides for Island Transit.
Hannold also claims to have saved Freedom Park. CARE, Camano Action for a Rural Environment, did that. Hannold may have helped with the taxation zoning, but that should have been done years ago.
I’m outraged at Hannold’s attacks on his opponent and his lies about his public record. He does not deserve reelection.
Join me in voting for Janet St. Clair for Island County commissioner. She has the skills to be a commissioner who enhances our quality of life.
