Stanwood-Camano school board: Zeigen a voice for students

I am writing to let your readers know why the Stanwood-Camano School District needs George Zeigen on the school board.

I have been in education for 25 years, 19 of them as a teacher at Stanwood Middle School. During 18 of those 19 years, I worked with an amazing colleague and friend. Zeigen was a counselor at SMS for 30 years. He continually strived to do one thing: help. He helped our students. He helped the staff. He helped our school. He helped our administrators. And he helped the community. Tireless effort to keep one goal: being a voice for the kids.

Don’t get me wrong. He did not let poor choices slide. There were so many instances where he would step in when I needed help with a disciplinary matter. He would keep kids honest. He would keep them on the right path. And he would keep them respectful.

Mr. Zeigen spent his entire career assisting our students to become successful members of society. He treated everyone with compassion and kindness. He was always an advocate for students. Now as a retired counselor and member of the community, he can become an advocate for change.

George Zeigen will bring all the same qualities to the Stanwood-Camano School Board. The community would benefit from his knowledge of schools.
