State constitution applies too regarding firearms

Don’t ignore the Washington state constitution.

I suggest that the author of a recent letter to the editor regarding firearms and the U.S. Constitution, check out the Washington state constitution. Article 1, Section 24 states “The right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself or, the state, shall not be impaired.” The Washington State Constitution does “permit you to buy your own gun” and defend yourself. There is no mention of the term “militia” in our state constitution.
