Last month the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill (HR2587) to amend the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to curtail union rights that will not allow companies that have closed union employees to relocate plants and factories in right-to-work states. The Boeing Co. has just done this by building a factory in South Carolina, a right-to-work (RTW) state. The NLRB has stated that Boeing has violated union rules by building a factory in a RTW state in retribution for Machinists union strikes in Washington.
Of course, our U.S. representatives always say they support the largest private employer in the state, which is Boeing. And they support Washington business. So it would seem that they would all support the bill to not curtail Washington companies (such as Boeing) from locating factories in other U.S. states. However, every one of our Democratic Party representatives voted against the bill. They are Jay Inslee, Rick Larsen, Norm Dicks, Jim McDermott and Adam Smith.
Obama wants to increase jobs in the U.S. and reduce unemployment. So why does his NLRB (and I mean his NLRB) work against this policy? Perhaps Boeing and others may have to look overseas more. As for Boeing, Airbus has no restrictions to manufacture anywhere.
Remember who your representatives are and vote according to your feelings. Also, attention to the Boeing IAM 751 and SPEEA members.
