Having only lived in the United States for the past two years I am unable at this point in time to register my opinions in any electorate. But I watch with interest the goings-on of the various political parties, especially in the local area in which I live. Raising revenue seems to be a big issue, along with saving lives and cutting down on speeding motorists; all very worthy causes.
Why don’t the local government and police department campaign to install speed or radar cameras along the interstate highways to photograph and book offending motorists, instead of dressing up in working man’s clothes and pretending to be members of road crews? This is play-acting and time consuming. If we are to be serious about slowing down motorists and saving lives, we ought to hit them where it hurts most – in the pocketbook!
Radar camera traps work successfully. Fines are collected accordingly. Revenue is raised successfully. Get caught enough times breaking the speed limit, and wham, your license is suspended! Try living out here with no license, no car, and no transportation – it is not a happy situation.
