On Aug. 21, the Snohomish County Council pulled a fast one on the entire county. Three Republican members of the council pulled a stealth attack in favor of big developers.
In the middle of hearings on buildable lands, Gary Nelson, John Koster and Jeff Sax suddenly unveiled a document about growth and land that had never been previously revealed, and apparently did not originate from the Planning Department. Amazingly, it called for more development!
What a surprise to see that members who were elected after massive infusions of money and big campaign signs from big developers and realtors suddenly produced a document showing that more growth was not only possible, but necessary.
So, all commuters who are stuck in traffic each day can contemplate how three of their elected officials came up with a plan to increase growth and, along with it, traffic. And it’s a plan that apparently originated out of thin air. But now it’s the official plan.
