Stop insulting our fighting soldiers

In response to Stephanie Strube’s comments on the Iraq war (Tuesday letters “Fatalities of war continue to rise”), I will continue to make my stance known to all those who ramble on about this war.

While I admire your so-called knowledge of numbers and statistics of what has gone on there, I have to tell you that numbers and statistics don’t change the fact that even without our soldiers being over in Iraq, there would have been more deaths, car bombs, rocket attacks, etc., happening there today if we would have never stepped foot there. We tend to forget that there were great casualties going on there long before we arrived on the scene – even more then there are now.

Did you know that when my son arrived somewhere in Afghanistan in March there were hundreds of dead people laying all over, due to the Taliban coming into their homes, killing totally innocent people and destroying everything they had, which wasn’t much to begin with?

Please don’t insult President Bush and our soldiers – yes, more than 1,800 of them have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

If my son were to be one of them, I would stand proud and say that because of his sacrifice, and for all of those who went before, it was worth it because of what they are doing for all of us here. They are keeping those creeps out of our country, we stay safe and don’t have to become like those who live in Iraq, Afghanistan and anywhere else in the world where terrorism is happening. So don’t complain!
