Amy Nile’s May 8 article, “Writing to heal,” about Sultan students using expressive writing to heal themselves was a refreshing bit of news. As someone who has utilized and taught expressive writing, I could have used a class like this when I was growing up.
James Pennebaker’s original study of expressive writing lead to decades of research that showed both physical and psychological benefits from expressing oneself this way. He also found that it’s never too late to write about anything. Write on!
