About the stranded whale: In the middle 1930s, a big, dead whale was found in the vicinity of Weyerhaeuser Mill “B”. The whale was brought into the mill by the same means that logs in the river were taken into the mill.
The whale was displayed and spectators were invited to come into the mill to see the whale, as we did, my next older brother and our parents.
I’m sure that it was the first and only whale that any of us ever saw. There surely was an article in the local newspaper publications of the time.
