In the 21st Legislative District race this Nov. 6 voters concerned about our environment have a clear choice: Brian Sullivan, who has been a leader on sensible environmental protection, or Joe Marine, who has been missing in action on the issue.
Puget Sound is cleaner because of Brian Sullivan. As mayor of Mukilteo, Brian Sullivan fought to get leaking fuel tanks along the Puget Sound removed. Brian has also worked to conserve open space and supports protection of our delicate shorelines.
With the 49-49 tie in the state House of Representatives, Joe’s own Republican leadership has been able to prevent most environmental legislation from even coming to a vote. Needed updates to the Shorelines Management Act are stalled. Progress on a transportation bill is stalled. We are still paying for school construction by logging state forests. It’s bad enough that progress can’t be made on these issues.
Worse still, Marine voted for a budget amendment that would have gutted funding for the Maury Island Conservation Initiative. This initiative is an attempt to buy an old mine site and protect a nearby aquifer that supplies drinking water to Maury Island.
For the 21st District, and for our environment, the choice is clear: vote Brian Sullivan for state representative.
