The Earth’s temperature is rising and more and more of the ozone is eaten away by the actions of human beings. The Sultan City Council has voted to fight the preservation of the Wild Sky Wilderness. I believe this to be a selfish act without any foresight. The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere today is about 360 parts per million. It is expected to be more than 700 parts per million by 2050.
In our own Cascade mountains the snow pack is far below normal and in parts of the southern hemisphere they are closing ski resorts because they do not get any snow. Sound close to home?
I have to ask cities like Sultan that are projected to grow by more than 150 percent in the next 20-odd years, what are you thinking? What do you plan on leaving our children?
Social Security is in better shape than the Earth’s atmosphere. The environmental arrogance that you show is a sad statement made on the behalf of the citizens of Sultan. I urge you to change your resolution and think about the future, not just yourself.
