I am a junior attending Sultan High School. As you already know, on Feb. 14, at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, in Parkland, Florida there was a school shooting and 17 lives were lost. On Feb. 17 the Women’s March Organization announced a nationwide school walkout called Enough!
The school walkout is dedicated to honor the lives of those who died in the Parkland shooting and to protest against gun violence and school shootings in America. Inspired by the many strong students all across the nation, a group of students at Sultan High School have decided to participate in the Enough! walkout to honor the lives of those taken in Florida as well as those taken before. This event will be this Wednesday, March 14, the one month anniversary of the Parkland school shooting. We will leave Sultan High School at 10 a.m. and will march to the gazebo at 100 Main Street. Once we arrive at the gazebo the platform will be given to any who wants to give a written speech or perform a poem on the topic.
Here’s the catch, this group of students and I don’t have the known support of our school. However, we are a group of very passionate students who are willing to take any consequences for this school walkout and do whatever it takes to make our voices heard. We hope you can make it there and to hear from you soon.
