“Where flowers bloom, so does hope.” Lady Bird Johnson, first lady of the United States from 1963 to 1969, is best known for covering the country with wildflowers to add beauty across our lands.
The flowers quote is attributed to her. I am sure she would be so proud of all of the neighbors and flower lovers in town for stepping up and planting the concrete planters in downtown Everett. I remember the gorgeous red flowers everywhere in 2019. Every turn you made downtown there were beautiful, outstanding, red flowers. Everyone was talking about them.
Downtown Everett Association is coordinating bringing back the flowers after they were cut from the city budget due to budget shortfalls. DEA needs your help though. To the dozens of volunteers who showed up in the pouring rain to plant and to those who are keeping up weeding and watering thank you. DEA needs more volunteers to help fund the flower program and keep the flowers growing.
I love flowers. I enjoy their beauty. I don’t want to plant but I heard a long time ago that “it is easier to be a donor than a volunteer” so I have donated! I hope you will too. Together we can make Everett continue to be a place of beauty! To donate go to https://www.downtowneverettwa.org/donate
